  • 2009 Alyssa Pinot Noir Winemaker's Notes

The brilliant deep hue of this wine hints at its violet and black cherry core. The nose is seductively rich with the exquisite layering of earth and spice notes indicative of the estate vineyard coupled with a delicate bouquet of currant and stone fruit. The attack on the pallet is full of plush fruit and bright acidity balanced with minerality, subtle oak and silky tannins culminating in a long and luxurious finish. The wine drinks well now but will benefit from cellaring over the coming decade.

  • 2009 Bella Pinot Noir Winemaker's Notes

The 2009 Bella is bright and beautiful, much in the vein of the inaugural 2008 vintage. This selective, two-barrel lot balances the depth and complexities of the older 115 Dijon clone vines with the joyful, fruit-filled exuberance of the younger Dijon clone 667 and 777 high density vines.
The aromatic complexities of the wine open in the glass to expressions of blackberry, earth, wild strawberry and cola. The enlivening attack on the palate fills the mouth with layers of smoke and cinnamon building on a base of black cherry and spice. The finish is smooth, full and lingers on the palate. This wine will age exceptionally well in the cellar.

  • 2009 Charlotte Pinot Noir Winemaker's Notes

The 2009 Charlotte, named for our first grandchild, is an inaugural wine crafted primarily from the fruit of our high density blocks. The wine is rich, full and complex in the mouth. Luxuriously smooth tannins and a bright fruit attack round out the voluptuous structure of this wine. This gorgeous mélange balances the depth and complexities of the older Dijon 113 clone vines with the joyful, fruit-filled exuberance of the younger Dijon 667, 777 and 828 clone vines.
The attack on the palate is sweet, seamless and full of bright cherry and blackberry fruit and cola, with an exquisitely elegant and lingering finish. The enticing bouquet is layered with notes of chocolate, violets, toast and strawberry. The wine should cellar well.

  • 2009 Nipple Hill Pinot Noir Winemaker's Notes

The 2009 Nipple Hill is a special small lot wine. Standard French Burgundy oak barrels serve as austere fermentation vessels in this old school wine making approach. Special attention to each of the small lots with their wooden micro vessels, create an optimal environment for the development of the wine. The wines develop slowly and evenly with significantly lower heat and longer, gentler fermentations. This slow, gentle fermentation results in a more complex layering and wonderfully integrated flavors and tannins.
The wine is vivid ruby and garnet in color. Bright in aromatics, elegant and silky, earth, spice and wild strawberry dominate the nose on this wine with elegant supporting layers of sandalwood and lavender. The velvety texture of the soft tannins is harmoniously balanced with the lush, spicy fruit, presenting a long and lingering finish. Approachable now, this wine will age beautifully and reward the patient.
